Lydia Nabawanuka, who is also recognized by her stage name Lydia Jasmine, hails from Uganda and is celebrated as a singer and musician. Born in 1991 in the Mukono district, situated in the central region of Uganda, she commenced her educational journey at Victoria Nile Primary School before continuing her studies at St. Mary's School Namaliga in Kimenyedde sub-county within the Mukono district. Upon completing her primary education, Lydia pursued further studies at Cityland College in Matugga, located in the Wakiso district. Following her high school graduation, Lydia ventured to Kampala, the bustling capital and largest city of Uganda, to enroll at Multitech Business School. In 2016, she proudly obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management. Lydia Jasmine's musical journey took root during her high school years when she joined the school choir.
During this period, she also lent her vocals to the choirs at Passover Harvest Centre and Watoto churches. Post-high school, she became a backup singer for the band Gertnum. Subsequently, she caught the attention of the music duo Radio and Weasel, who signed her as a backup singer for the Goodlyfe crew.
Known for hits like "Ntunga" and "Breath Away," Lydia Jasmine also provided backing vocals for Bebecool and Sheebah Karungi on various tracks. Her debut song, "You Know," a collaboration with Rabadaba, premiered in 2014. Overseeing her musical endeavors from the outset was her manager, Bushington, until their recent parting due to differences.
In 2017, Lydia Jasmine was selected to represent Uganda for the second consecutive year at Coke Studio. During this stint, she collaborated with Mozambican artist Liloca and collaborated with music producer Sketchy Bongo. Coke Studio, a non-competitive platform sponsored by Coca-Cola, facilitates cross-cultural exchanges among musicians and offers opportunities for collaboration with renowned music producers.
