  • Chris Evans Kaweesi, an R&B artist, is a prominent figure in the Ugandan music scene. Known for his soulful tunes and laid-back demeanor, Evans has made a name for himself both as a recording artist and a business owner. His music, often played at wedding parties and ceremonies, serves as a backdrop for new beginnings and celebrations.

    One of Evans' early breakthroughs came with his debut single, "Rihana," which quickly gained popularity and established him as a noteworthy talent in the music industry. In 2015, he collaborated with fellow musician Rema Namakula on the hit song "Linda," a track that continues to resonate with audiences, evoking a sense of both novelty and timelessness.

    Despite his success, Evans' journey has been marked by controversies. Among the most notable incidents was an altercation where he claimed to have been attacked by assailants wielding a hammer, a story met with skepticism by many.

    Born Christopher Evans Kaweesi in 1987, Evans' upbringing was marked by adversity and resilience. Raised by his mother Jane Nabwami, a housewife, and his father Christopher Kakooza, a church singer, Evans faced hardship early in life with the loss of both parents by the age of 14. To finance his education, he worked various odd jobs on construction sites, demonstrating his determination to pursue his studies.

    Chris recalls that when he initially embarked on his musical journey, many likened his sound to that of Qute Kaye from the Ginkese.

    He holds Elly Wamala, who has since passed away, and Ronald Mayinja in high regard as his musical inspirations.

    Chris Evans delved into music in 2007, debuting with his first single "Rihana" in 2009, produced by Mozart studios. Although it didn't propel him to immediate success, it served as his entry point into the industry. In 2010, he released "Ndikusasula ki," a chart-topping hit across Uganda, produced by David, which led to his inaugural successful concert in 2011, albeit amid controversy due to its scheduling clash with Chameleon's concert.

    Collaborating with singer Rema Namakula in 2015, they created the acclaimed duet "Linda," garnering significant airplay and acclaim.

    His journey in the limelight hasn't been without personal challenges. His private life made headlines in 2014 when a local actress ended their relationship. Subsequently, in 2012, he shared images on social media with a woman he claimed was his love interest, later revealed to be a model in a music video.

    In recognition of his talent, he received the Best R&B Song award at the 2015 HiPipo Music Awards for "Rihanna."
